On Monday 20th June we presented the petition to the Dutch Parliament. The number and the calibre of the messages of support were impressive and we are very grateful for that. On Monday 27th June the Parliament will decide if the TIN retains its subsidie or if it must close. We are carrying on the fight and we will keep you posted.
We are shocked to hear that the Government of the Netherlands intends to stop funding Theater Instituut Nederland (TIN). Over the decades, TIN has proved itself to be an outstanding ambassador for the Dutch performing arts and it is the centre for expertise and information on, and for, Dutch theatre. Thanks to TIN, the Netherlands plays a significant role on the international stage.
Save Theater Instituut Nederland
Theater Instituut Nederland is also a dedicated curator of the history and future of the performing arts and manages a theatre collection that is unique in Europe. Don’t let the curtain go down on TIN!

Standard letter:
To the Government of the Netherlands,
The Government of the Netherlands is planning to stop the subsidy for the Theater Instituut Nederland. That means the end of the Dutch expertise and information centre for the performing arts, and a crucial link in international co-operation and the promotion of Dutch theatre. The gateway to Dutch performing arts is under threat.
Closure of the TIN also means the end of a unique collection covering all genres and stretching over four centuries. Together with its media centre, the largest for theatre in Europe, the collection is the foundation for research, publications, digital presentations and travelling exhibitions.
Yours sincerely,

It is a pity to hear about the plans of terminating the subsidy for the Theater Instituut Nederland. Please reconsider as this may mean the end of expertise and information provision for the performing arts in the Netherlands. Surely, this centre (and its valuable and unique collection spanning various genres throughout four centuries) is also vital in the promotion of Dutch theatre and research on Dutch theatre internationally.
Herewith I urge you to reconsider, thus not cutting the subsidies to TIN.
Yours sincerely,
Santie de Jongh
