  • We would like to collaborate with a Dutch company for a mutual project.

    TIN can support you with information and contacts. ‘The Dutch on Tour’ are two booklets (pdf) that offer you a first impression of some 80 Dutch theatre companies. All of these companies have international experience or the ambition to work internationally. For more information, please contact the companies or info@tin.nl.

  • Do you have audio-visual materials and other documentation of a Dutch performance?

    Consult the TIN-catalogue. It is possible to watch the available video’s/dvd's in the library of TIN. For more information, contact the information centre of TIN: info@tin.nl. Or contact the Dutch company to see whether it is possible to obtain video material. More and more companies also have trailers on YouTube.

  • Where can I apply for funding for international co-productions, tours, workshops or conferences?

  • Could you recommend a Dutch production for our festival?

    As we might not be familiar with your festival formula and your audience interest, we do not recommend specific productions. ‘The Dutch on Tour’ are two booklets (pdf) that offer you a first impression of some 80 Dutch theatre companies. All of these companies have international experience or the ambition to work internationally. For more information, please contact the companies or info@tin.nl. The International Visitors Programme, coordinated by TIN, might offer you a possibility to visit Dutch performances in Holland. Please contact your local Dutch embassy for more information. Some Dutch festivals also organize a professionals programme for foreign visitors. Please contact these festivals for more information. You will find contact addresses on the TIN Festival Flyer 2009 (pdf).

  • Do you have audio-visual materials and other documentation of a Dutch performance?

    Consult the TIN-catalogue. It is possible to watch available video’s/dvd’s in the library of TIN. For more information, contact the information centre of TIN: info@tin.nl. Or contact the Dutch company to see whether it is possible to obtain video material. More and more companies also have trailers on YouTube.

    In most theatres and hotels in Amsterdam you will find free copies of the ‘UITkrant’ and ‘NL20’, cultural magazines with a detailed agenda of theatre, dance, opera and other cultural activities. You can also buy a copy of ‘Time Out Amsterdam’ in most of the Amsterdam book shops and kiosks.

    The Nuffic is a European exchange program for students and research. To apply for this program, please get in contact with the Department of Education of your own country. Also, visit the FAQ’s on the Nuffic website.

  • I am looking for an artistic, technical or administrative internship with a Dutch theatre organization.

    Check these recent vacancies in Dutch theatres and theatre companies. Depending the subject, there are many organizations you could address your request to. ‘The Dutch on Tour’ are two booklets (pdf) that offer you a first impression of some 80 Dutch theatre companies.
    For more specific information on Dutch companies, please contact the Dutch Association for Performing Arts (NAPK).
    For venues, contact the Vereniging van Schouwburg en Concertgebouwdirecties (VSCD), the organisation of theatres.
    The project ‘Gulliver Connects’ of Felix Meritis offers another possibility. 'Gulliver Connects' is a practical programme for improving mobility among cultural activists in Europe and beyond.

  • Is a translation available of the Dutch play named ……?

    Consult the TIN-database or contact the information centre of TIN: info@tin.nl for advice. For information on the rights, you can contact the author or his agent. You can find the addresses in the TIN-database.

  • I want to promote a foreign play to the Dutch producing organizations.

    TIN is not an impresario or agent. Please address your promotional activities directly to the dramaturges or theatre companies.

  • Are there funds to produce or translate a Dutch piece of work?

    You could apply for funds at the following organizations. The Stichting Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten (FAPK) promotes Dutch theatre abroad. The Fonds voor de Letteren subsidizes translations of Dutch literature.
    International Theatre & Film Books (ITFB) publishes ‘Theatre in Translation’, a series of foreign language editions which seeks to promote plays by European writers.

The Media Centre

  • How can I find programme booklets for a particular production?

    The media centre has programme booklets that you can browse through. You cannot borrow them but you can make photocopies or order them for a fee. The database allows you to search for a specific production under the heading ‘theatre productions’. You will see whether a programme booklet for that production is available at the bottom of the description. The production code enables you to ask for the programme concerned in the media centre. You will find descriptions of professional theatre productions from 1940 onwards.
    If the production you are searching for is not listed in the database or if it dates back to before 1940, call the media centre helpline, send your request to mediatheek@tin.nl or ask at our reception desk.

  • How can I find the reviews for a particular production?

    The media centre has reviews that you can consult. You cannot borrow them, but you can make photocopies or order them for a fee. The database allows you to search for a specific production under the heading ‘theatre productions’. You will see whether reviews are available for that production at the bottom of the description. The production code enables you to ask for the review concerned in the media centre. Reviews from 1 September 1998 onwards are directly available via the media centre computer. You can also print them if you wish.
    The database has descriptions of professional theatre productions from 1940 onwards.
    If the production you are searching for is not listed in the database or if it dates back to before 1940, call the media centre helpline, send your request to media centre@tin.nl or ask at our reception desk.

  • Do you also have biographical details of people?

    Yes; we store interviews, obituaries and reviews relating to theatre celebrities from the Netherlands and abroad in individual folders per person. You can ask to look through these personal folders in the media centre.
    You can also consult the database to see which publications are available about or by a particular person. You can search for specific people under the headings books and magazines. Type in the surname, and then select the relevant person from the list that appears.

  • Is it possible to order photocopies of material?

    Yes; photocopies (maximum of 15 pages) can be ordered for a fee. You should apply in writing.

  • Where can I find the addresses of theatre-makers?

    Private addresses will not be handed out. Most theatre-makers can be contacted through the company or their agent. You can consult the database to find out where a person is (or has been) working. The addresses and telephone numbers of the producers can also be requested via the database.

  • Where can I find information and addresses for theatre festivals?

    Via this website. The heading Links will refer you to the websites of various theatre festivals in the Netherlands and abroad.

    The website of the European Network of Information Centres for the Performing Arts (ENICPA) has a database that provides details of various festivals throughout Europe. You can search the database on the basis of category: festivals, or country.

  • Can the Theater Instituut Nederland supply address lists?

    You can request the addresses of producers/companies, theatre workshops, festivals, agents, theatres (with large, medium-sized or small auditoriums), courses, copyright organizations, cultural organizations and funds. Please indicate the category you require.
    Addresses cost € 0.23 per address on a printed list and € 0.32 per address on labels, (both prices exclude administration and postal costs). We do not supply digital files of addresses. The printed lists also state telephone and fax numbers and e-mail and Internet addresses.

  • Do you also have digital scripts?

    No; the media centre only has scripts in book form. On our site, under Links > Diversen > Toneelteksten, you will find an overview of sources that provide a number of scripts online.

  • Can I borrow videos and DVDs?

    No; video tapes, DVDs and video discs cannot be borrowed. The media centre provides viewing cubicles where you can watch videos (maximum of 3 people). We would advise you to reserve a cubicle in advance via media centre@tin.nl or +31 (0)20-5513305.
